The healing power of salt
What is a soup without a good pinch of salt? Not only does salt serve as a seasoning, it’s a food in the truest sense of the word; without it we could not survive and it also has healing properties.
It is a vital substance and has an important function in our body: It is responsible for regulating and ensuring a healthy nutrient and water balance, regulating blood pressure and bone structuring.
Salt as a remedy?
Small scratches and wounds heal even faster in salty seawater. Unfortunately, swimming in the sea is not always possible, unless you’re lucky enough to live by it. Of course, salt should not be applied to a wound under any circumstances because, as the well-known proverb suggests, this is bordering on torture and causes great pain.
In today’s medicine, salt is used in various fields. Amongst other things, it is used in connection with respiratory diseases, as well as in metabolic disorders, lack of concentration, sleep disorders or skin diseases.
